Happy Thanksgiving.

It was yesterday, apparently. Not that I’d know too much about it. Being not American and all that. Not that that is stopping me from being the hostess of a Thanksgiving party which a student club at our English school will be throwing tonight, at yours truly’s house. And apparently one of the main attractions of this Chinese Thanksgiving party will be the “savoury German salad” that I will be making. Good to know, eh?

It would appear that my neverending kindness (and/or my students’ incredible nagging skills) was the reason why I ended up with the honour. Not quite sure how exactly I ended up agreeing to it- could have been because they kept assuring me that it’ll be twenty people or less. Now I’m quite sure that I did see this invitation email that had just about 120 addresses in the to field, but I keep telling myself that I was hallucinating. I did mention that my flat was 40sqm with seating for about ten people (ten thin people, that is). Didn’t I?

And will there be any sort of clash between the Western and Chinese concepts of party? (That’s socialising and drinking with some music and a bit of food vs. a meal, drink and lots of games, entertainment, God knows what.)

Well, in any case, I’ll soon find out. And to be honest, I'm a bit afraid to.

Bis dann,

Nadine
