Today is Beijing's and my two-week anniversary.

Nothing major happened over the last few days, except that I lost my Irish bank card and am now left with a couple hundred RMB until either the new one arrives courtesy of Himself sending it on to me, or until I get my first salary here. Not so great but what can you do.

Oh, and the other day I discovered that those mall toilets we have to use in work do, after all, have two western-style loos in the ladies' room. Imagine the pain I felt when I discovered them- after almost two weeks of squatting!

Also, when registering at the local police station the other day with my landlord (which all foreigners have to do), the lovely lady who was processing my documents told the landlord that it's extremely bad luck to rent your place out to a foreigner, and that if I do anything wrong he'll be held responsible. Not quite in line with the usual friendliness I've been received with here. Hope she'll die miserably and burn in hell- okay, so she probably doesn't believe in a hell as such, but you get the idea. Pah.

Starting to miss Himself, the family, and my friends- the new factor is starting to wear off a little I guess.

Company party tonight in honour of the Chinese New Year - it's scheduled to start at 8pm and end at 10:30. Sounds slightly strange to my ex-Salesforce ears (as fellow Salesforce folks know, those parties never end before 2am), but we'll see, I guess! If anyone receives a drunk phonecall, you'll know the party was a success!

Bis dann!
